Our response to the recent 'Four Corners - after death documentary

A message from Kristy, Director of Lovell Meizer Funerals

We feel that at a time when the funeral industry is under such scrutiny, we would like to address the issue head on.

Owning my own funeral home has been a dream for as long as I can remember. Lovell Meizer Funerals was created to deliver the kind of service we feel people deserve.

After working in the industry since 2001 and seeing firsthand the large corporations driven by the big dollars and smaller organisations not having the adequate time, care or passion to serve people properly I feel there needed to be a change, somewhere people could trust.
I have seen many changes in the industry and unfortunately still now hear of unprofessional and unethical practices and standards being adhered to, too close to home. Practices such as Nursing homes and hospitals going directly to one funeral home and taking the choice away from families, community facilities being restricted of use, and the industry being monopolised instead of genuine care and concern for families.

We want people to feel as though they have been fairly treated, with transparency throughout the entire process. Our standards are second to none and I would welcome our families to witness any part of our processes at any time they wish to ensure their loved ones are treated with the highest respect and dignity at all times.

The sign above our mortuary door reads, “Remember, Families trust us with one of their most prized possessions, keep faith with them by conducting yourself as though family were present. The body is dear to them, treat it reverently.” This is not only a sign; it is a value that we hold very dear. I treat every person as though they are my own family, with the same care, respect and love they deserve.

I contacted Four Corners and welcomed them into our funeral home to allow the other side, the caring and compassionate side of the funeral industry to be brought to light, I received no response.

If you have any questions about the process or would like to see for yourself our facilities, meet our staff or question our ethics or standards I welcome you to our office anytime.
